Kelantan vs Petronas: Case management on July 29

KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 — Kelantan’s breach-of-contract lawsuit against Petronas is slated for case management on July 29 the High Court fixed today.

The date was set in chambers after Justice Datin Zabariah Mohd Yusof met Senior Federal Counsel Noor Hisham Ismail representing Putrajaya and Counsel Rishwant Singh for Petronas, according to Bernama Online.

Rishwant Singh informed the media after the meeting.

On Aug 30, 2010, the Kelantan (Plaintiff) sued Petronas for allegedly reneging on a oil royalty contract.

It claims the Kelantan Petroleum Agreement signed on May 9, 1975 stipulates the defendant, Petronas, was obligated to pay five per cent of onshore and offshore oil revenues to the state.

The plaintiff is seeking to compel Petronas to settle all payments. In order to ascertain the amount Kelantan wants Petronas to disclose all dues from the point of discovery and the areas and blocks the oil is sourced from.

Kelantan wants the court to determine outstanding payments if there are and for Petronas to honour its agreement in full in the future for activities of the Kelantanese coast.
