Wayne Rooney returns to the scene of the crime... with a clear reminder he's a family man
* Coleen Rooney decides to take footballer back
* England star reassured her it was 'a terrible mistake and won't happen again'
It was the scene of his tawdry liaison with two vice girls and today Wayne Rooney made a return to the £300-a-night Lowry hotel in Manchester.
But this time around, the disgraced 24-year-old footballer came armed with a very firm reminder of his status as a family man.
He was carrying a washbag decorated with a image of him with Kai, his 10-month-old son with wife Coleen.
He's back: Wayne Rooney checked into The Lowry in Manchester with the rest of his team this morning; the upmarket hotel is where he met two prostitutes last year
The original picture was taken at Old Trafford in May after his team Manchester United defeated Stoke City, well before news of his sex scandal broke.

His wife Coleen was today seen at the marital home, a £4million mansion in Prestbury, Cheshire, with her wedding ring clearly on show.
Last night the pair patched up their marriage - but the England star was told that if he strays again their relationship is over for good.
The WAG has taken him back wife despite the tabloid revelations that he cheated on her with two prostitutes while she was pregnant.
The couple returned separately to the Cheshire mansion yesterday, where Mrs Rooney, also 24, is said to have immediately laid down strict rules.
A friend of the couple told the Daily Mail: ‘Things are looking better and they are talking about a future together.’
Another close friend said Mrs Rooney wanted to give their marriage another chance, if only on a trial basis, and that her husband had agreed to ‘a variety of different rules’.
Looking forward: Coleen leaving the couple's Cheshire home today wearing her wedding ring
‘Coleen has told him if it ever happens again that will be it. The end of the marriage.
‘It will mean an end to his nights out with the lads for a long time to come and is a chance to rebuild the trust they once had. He has told her it was all a terrible mistake and he has learned his lesson.’
The Rooneys’ relationship has been in turmoil since newspaper revelations that the Manchester United striker had paid for liaisons with £1,200-a-night prostitute Jenny Thompson, 21, and her friend Helen Wood, 23.
But yesterday they were reconciled as Mrs Rooney – who had been staying with her parents in Liverpool with the couple’s son – returned to the family home with her clothes on hangers in the back of her Range Rover.
Her husband arrived an hour-and-a-half later and the couple remained indoors for the rest of the day. Their discussions came after Rooney was left out of Manchester United’s 3-3 draw with Everton on Saturday.
Concerned: Coleen and her sister Rosie arriving at Old Trafford last October. Coleen is keeping a vigil by her hospital bedside
The week has been all the more traumatic for Mrs Rooney as she has also been helping to care for her seriously ill sister.
Rosie, 12, has Rett Syndrome - a brain disorder which also affects development - and is in intensive care at Liverpool’s Alder Hey hospital after suffering a stroke.
She broke away from her bedside at the Alder Hey hospital for a few hours on Saturday afternoon to hold crisis talks with Wayne over reports of the Manchester United star sleeping with prostitutes while Coleen was pregnant with their son Kai.
But Mrs Rooney had given her husband a positive signal when she was spotted in public on Thursday still wearing her wedding ring.
On Friday the Rooneys released a joint statement asking for time alone together to work on their marriage. They stated that the ‘last six days have been extremely painful for us and for our families’.
Despite missing Saturday’s game, Rooney has since returned to training with Manchester United, looking relaxed as he fooled around with fellow players.
He is set to feature in tonight's Champions League match at home to Rangers.
His attitude may not be unconnected to the fact that his infidelity might well affect his sponsorship deals.
Contracts with Nike and EA Sports, which have boosted his personal fortune to £35million, appear to be safe.
