Ulu Yam drowning mishap: 3 cousins die
HULU SELANGOR, Dec 30 — Three students who were also cousins drowned while swimming at the Sungai Sendat waterfall in Hulu Yam near here today.
The victims were Tan Ching Wee, 10, and Tew Chew Ying, 13, and Kok Soo Dee, 19, all from Klang.
Hulu Selangor police chief Supt Norel Azmi Yahya Affandi said in the 1pm incident, the girls toghther with five other family members were swimming at the waterfalls when suddenly the three of them started shouting for help.
“Chew Ying's mother Kok Soo Peng together with the other members of the family as well as members of the public tried to help but were unsuccessful,” he said in a SMS to Bernama.
He said rescuers from the Kuala Kubu fire station managed to retrieve their bodies about an hour later.
The bodies were sent to the Kuala Kubu Baru hospital. — Bernama
