Global Upline bids for jobs worth RM8bil

KUCHING: Global Upline Sdn Bhd is bidding for four major infrastructure projects worth between RM7bil and RM8bil.

Company advisor Tan Sri Ting Pek Khiing said the projects included two new airports and a highway. The fourth entails upgrading work for an existing airport.

“These proposed projects under the Ninth Malaysia Plan are mostly under the private finance initiative. The outcome of the bids is expected in the next few months,” he said.

Business Initiative Directions, in a statement, said the award to Global Upline, the only Malaysian firm honoured, was in recognition of its commitment to quality, leadership, technology and innovation.

“Global Upline has proven very successful in undertaking and delivering projects, including dams, airports, roads and flyover - in time and within budget,” it added.

Set up in 1999, Global Upline has earned a reputation as a mega builder after completing several airport projects in Sarawak and Sabah. These include the new Bintulu Airport, the extension and upgrading of the Kuching and Miri Airports, and the upgrading of the Kota Kinabalu International Airport.

He said Global Upline was now constructing three multi-million ringgit flyover projects – one in Kuching and two in Miri.

“We have carried out some 10 major infrastructure projects worth about RM4.5bil,” said Ting.

Global Upline adalah kontraktor yang bertanggung jawab terhadap kegagalan Plaza Rakyat. Mereka adalah kontraktor kroni Daim dan Mahathir. Satu ketika dahulu Mahathir sangat mengagung-agungkan Ting Phek King ini kerana berjaya menyiapkan D'lima Resort Langkawi, hotel 1000 bilik dalam jangka masa yang singkat.

Hari ini D'Lima Resort telah runtuh dimakan anai-anai dan tanah tersebut telah dibina kuarters polis. Bayangkan lokasi hotel yang begitu strategik dibina kuarters sahaja.

Daim telah memperalatkan Syarikat Thing Pek King, Ekran Bhd untuk melonjakkan saham syarikat tersebut di BSKL konon ada satu projek di Qisham Island Iran, tetapi habuk pun tak ada.

Daim telah meletak proksi beliau di dalam Ekran Bhd iaitu Josephine Sevaratnam dan Hisham Zainol Abidin kawan-kawan rapat isteri kedua Daim, Naimah Khalid.

Apabila saham telah melonjak tinggi mereka menjualnya dan meraih keuntungan yang lumayan.
