Nik Aziz says PAS is for everyone
TEMERLOH, Feb 25— PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat said today that his party is not extremist, and instead fights for harmony among people of all creeds and races in the country.
He said the allegation that PAS strived only for Islam was not true.
“PAS is increasingly accepted by people of all races because of its approach which is based on Islam,” he told reporters here.
“The allegation that PAS is extremist, does not champion the people, is altogether untrue. In fact, PAS is increasingly being accepted by non-Muslims,” he said.
Nik Aziz, who earlier met people around Kerdau town, said that non-Muslims now had a better understanding of Islam, thanks to the efforts of PAS.
Nik Aziz was in Kerdau in conjunction with the by-election to be held on March 6 following the death of Barisan Nasional assemblyman Datuk Zaharuddin Abu Kassim of a heart attack on February 12.
