cerita dan gambar untuk tatapan anda di kuala terengganu

Few friends and I will travel by road and will be joining the Barisan Rakyat Bloggers starting from January 14, 2009 in Kuala Terengganu. We will return to Kuala Lumpur on January 18, 2009. I look forward to touch base with them and will report on my impressions to you. In the meantime, here is Haris Ibrahim’s report (No. 4): A Tale of Two Jetties.

For your information, the DJ did not feature his choice of songs and music last weekend. The reason for this is quite straightforward. He does not want to distract you from what is happening in Kuala Terengganu and Gaza.—Din Merican

From Haris Ibrahim in Kuala Terengganu reports:

Well, actually, one ‘about to fall apart’ jetty and a spanking new marina, both at Pulau Duyong, now famed for the Monsoon Cup.

First, though, a slight digression.

As we made our way out to Pulau Duyong this morning, we had to pass the Crsytal Mosque again.

These photos, I think, will illustrate what I had posted earlier.

At Pulau Duyong, enroute to the Rya Heritage Spa & Resort that houses the Heritage Bay Marina that is the site for the Monsoon Cup, we came upon a fishing village. There has been no fishing there for the last 7 days as the sea conditions have not been kind.

This is Pak Daud. Has 4 kids. Says he;s lucky if he can earn RM100 a day from fishing. Asked how he copes when he can't fish, he shrugged his shoulders.

From where I stood speaking to Pak Daud, I took the following shot.

This building houses a huge industry and blocks the view of the Heritage Bay Marina.

What industry?

This houses the shipyard. Word has it that someone with close government links got himself a RM2.5m cruiser foc for helping to secure this parcel of land for this venture. We're digging

And, now, to Heritage Marina Bay.
