Chief Justice Abdul Hamid Heads Perak Awards List

KUALA KANGSAR, April 19 (Bernama) -- Chief Justice Datuk Abdul Hamid Mohamad heads a list of 773 people conferred awards and medals in conjunction with the 80th birthday of the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah, today.

Abdul Hamid receives the Darjah Seri Paduka Cura Si Manja Kini (SPCM) which carries the title "Datuk Seri".

Perak Menteri Besar Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin, who was sworn in as the 10th menteri besar of Perak on March 17, receives the Darjah Seri Paduka Mahkota Perak (SPMP), which also carries the title "Datuk Seri".

Six other recipients of the SPMP are Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Ong Ka Chuan, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, the Orang Kaya Menteri Paduka Tuan and Orang Besar Jajahan Larut, Matang and Selama Datuk Dr Wan Mohd Isa Wan Ahmad Shukri, Perak Dewan Negara member and Bernama chairman Datuk Seri Panglima Mohd Annuar Zaini, Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad chairman Datuk Ismail Shahudin and retired teacher Datuk Selvamany a/l Navachitra Soudamany.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan, Chief of Army Gen Tan Sri Muhammad Ismail Jamaluddin and Chief of Air Force Gen Tan Sri Azizan Ariffin are the three recipients of the Darjah Seri Panglima Taming Sari (SPTS), which also carries the title "Datuk Seri".

Sultan Azlan Shah has conferred awards carrying the title "Datuk" on 34 people.

Two people receive the Darjah Datuk Paduka Cura Si Manja Kini (DPCM). They are Perak State Legal Adviser Ahmad Kamal Md Shahid and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Aminah Ayob.

Twenty-eight people receive the Darjah Datuk Paduka Mahkota Perak (DPMP). They are Perak Infrastructure and Public Amenities, Energy and Water, and non-Islamic Affairs Committee chairman and Perak DAP chairman Ngeh Ko Ham; Perak Deputy State Secretary Mohd Jamal Mahussin; Kinta District Officer Razali Othman; Kuala Kangsar Municipal Council president Mohd Shafie Arifin; Perak Director of Drainage and Irrigation Abdul Razak Dahalan.

United States citizen Timor Shah Rafiq; Malaysian High Commissioner to Namibia Hayati Ismail; Datuk Dr Sivamohan a/l S. Namasivayam of Damansara Specialist Hospital; United Plantations Berhad vice-chairman Carl Bek-Nielsen; Consultant in Orthopaedics and Traumatology Dr R. Balakrishnan.

Community Development Department director-general Abdul Puhat Mat Nayan; Pantai Medical Centre consultant general surgeon Dr Abdul Fahmi A. Karim; Malaysian Bar Council president Ambiga Sreenevasan; Universiti Malaya deputy vice-chancellor (research and innovation) Prof Dr Muhamad Rasat Muhamad; Dr Musa Mohd Nordin of Damansara Specialist Hospital.

Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (Miros) director-general Prof Radin Umar Radin Sohadi; Orang Besar 32 Sulaiman Mohd Nawi; TMI-Nusantara Consultants (M) Sdn Bhd executive chairman Thasleem Mohamed A. M. Ibrahim; Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF) Malaysia executive director Dr Dionysius Shankar Kumar Sharma; artiste Zahim S. Albakri Ikmal Hisham Hariri.

Dr Faraizah Abdul Karim of the National Blood Centre; Perak Teamwork Sdn Bhd director Hew Choy Khoun alias Hew Choy Kon; Ex-Servicemen's Affairs Corporation (Perhebat) director-general Mhd Najri Abd Karim; and Unesco Youth Forum Advisory Committee secretary Amarjit Singh Gill, 29, the youngest recipient of the DPMP.

Four others who receive the DPMP are Lee Sen Pin; Azlin Ahmad Shaharbi; Caelygirl (M) Holdings Berhad managing director Chuah Chin Lai and Sandra Ling Wei Feng.

The four recipients of the Darjah Datuk Pahlawan Taming Sari (DPTS) are Brig Gen (Dr) Hussin Zainal Abidin of the Armed Forces Hospital; First Admiral Mohd Som Ibrahim of the Defence Ministry joint command; Perak Chief Police Officer Datuk Zulkifli Abdullah and Brig Gen Mior Safian Saidin of the Defence Geospatial Division of the Survey and Mapping Department.

The investiture ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Balairong Seri (Throne Room) of the Istana Iskandariah here today.

Among the eight people made Justices of the Peace (JP) are Ab Wahab Azizul Hassan; Datuk Dr. M. Ramasamy; Datuk Omar Ahmad and Yaw Ngi Chuang.

The sultan has also bestowed the Darjah Paduka Cura Si Manja Kini (PCM) on 10 people, the Darjah Paduka Mahkota Perak (PMP) on 63 people, the Darjah Ahli Cura Si Manja Kini (ACM) on 18 people and the Darjah Ahli Mahkota Perak (AMP) on 147 people.

A total of 199 people receive the Pingat Pekerti Terpilih (PPT), 272 the Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (PJK) and 11 the Pingat Lama Perkhidmatan (PLP).

Among the recipients of the PMP are Perak Road Transport Departnent director Mad Yasir Mastakim, Bernama deputy editor-in-chief Zulkefli Salleh; Taiping OCPD ACP Raja Musa Raja Razak and Tapah OCPD Supt Roslan Bek Ahmad.

Bernama assistant news editor Hafizah Kamaruddin; Bernama Photo Unit head Mustaza Mohd Yusoff; Bernama Perak Bureau chief Mohd Zabidi Osman and Sin Chew Daily photographer Teh Pek Ling are among the 147 people bestowed the AMP.
