KOTA KINABALU: Police have completed investigations into two suspects in the abduction and assault of a 22-year-old university student here on April 15, and are now looking at their involvement in car thefts.

Police Commissioner Datuk Noor Rashid Ibrahim said police hoped to get the green light from the Deputy Public Prosecutor's office to charge the duo, aged 20 and 29, by Thursday.

He did not rule out the possibility that the duo were also involved in drug abuse and rape.

The two were arrested separately after they were alleged to have abducted and assaulted the second year Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) student from Kingfisher Park here and took her on a terror ride to interior Tambunan on April 15.

The student, from Sibu in Sarawak, was rescued after police gave chase and intercepted the suspects along the Tambunan - Keningau road during the wee hours of April 16.
